Once again, I can’t believe it’s been so long since I wrote my previous journal entry. Honestly, I’m not sure where to start. I guess “Happy New Year” would be a good place. I sincerely wish you all a New Year that’s healthy, happy and prosperous. And may the road ahead be filled with peace, love and abundance for you and your families. Here’s to lots of dreams coming true!!

So many things have happened since I wrote last. So I’ll just start with the couple of really big “life” things that have happened. I had major knee surgery back in April of last year - which I am still recovering from. OUCH. I had ACL reconstruction surgery and my knee is taking it’s sweet time cooperating. I was in physical therapy for 3 solid months directly after the surgery and I worked HARD to recuperate. Then, it was back to work. Standing on my feet all day hasn’t helped me any and I’ve run into these little complications along the way that have made bouncing back a little slower than I would like. The doctor assures me that all is well and that it really takes a full-year to work out the kinks and enjoy a full recovery. So, I’m working on it. And, on the bright side, I can still sing with a busted knee.

The other really big “life” thing - my husband and I decided it was time to start a family. So, I’m just about 6 months pregnant! We recently found out that we’re having a boy and both of our families are thrilled and more than excited about his arrival in early May. Pregnancy!! Well, what an adventure THIS is. The first trimester (and then some) was pretty rough. Some things are improving and some are getting more difficult but overall it’s an experience I wouldn’t trade for anything. As some of you know, I’m not a big person but my belly is already huge. Some of the simplest tasks have become incredibly challenging or completely, altogether unattainable. I’ve played a couple of shows since being pregnant but as I progress there really isn’t much room for the air I need to sing. So, I’ll continue writing and playing and learning but I’ll have to put off performing for a little while. Just until I get the space back for my lungs!!

Musically I had a quiet year. But there were definitely some highlights. I played a couple of great shows. I opened for Jeffery Gaines in NYC and had an amazing experience playing to a PACKED house opening for Dar Williams. As I’ve mentioned, I’m now playing the piano, so this year marked my first official gigs as a guitar AND piano player! I feel really good about that. I renewed the license for Chelsea Piers to continue airing their beautiful commercials that feature my song “These True Things”. And I’m currently finalizing the use of some of my music in the DVD release of an HBO series. I also joined the world of MySpace.com. You can always visit me there at www.MySpace.com/JessicaOwenMusic.

So, life is ALL good. And constantly changing. But however life evolves, music will always be constantly constant.

Thank you for your continued support.

Always,
Jessica
